I have visited the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company several times. The cafe, chocolate shop and winery all combined under one roof is completely accessible for me as a manual wheelchair user. No long or steep ramps, close and well maintained car park, open access to all three sections of the site, but the downside is I need to save up for the chocolate and wine to buy - trust me though, its worth every cent. This location is approximately a 1 hour drive from my residence, and is worth the trip as I feel at ease when I visit. Booking for the cafe for lunch is highly recommeded - they get super busy. Online also allows for notes that you may want to add for access - I always pop in to please remove a standard chair as I'm using a wheelchair, and this has been done each time. I have found the staff to be helpful and friendly - not condescending or wary, which I've experienced in other places. I am usually immersed in the experience and forget to take more helpful photos - like door entrances, inside the accessible toilet and closer pics of between tables access. Please forgive my use of online stock standard photos for your perusal. The wine tasting room shows high tables, but please note that there are also standard size tables for wheelchair access. There is a path that goes right around the water pond adjacent the facilities - as a manual wheelchair user my wheels don't like the gravel/rough terrain, it is not bitumised at all, so could prove slippery for those willing to have a go. The access experience at the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company, plus incorporated winery and cafe are as a manual wheelchair user only. I think power chair users would still be okay but I can't speak for accessibility requirements for others with differing access needs such as autism, low hearing/deaf, low vision/blind etc. I am endeavoring to learn more about a range of access needs to promote inclusivity, but also still stumbling along delving into my own as a wheelchair user of just under twelve months now (mobility crutches before that so I am understanding of disability and inclusivity). I have enjoyed the food there each time - some serves are massive and other items not so much. Coffee and cakes etc. are available if you aren't wanting breakfast or lunch. They are only open certain days, and I usually book online - I've tried to telephone them before but the landline is not always answered. Hopefully some of the above is helpful to a wheelchair user wanting a decent feed out - and knowing you can get into the place when you arrive is always a bonus!
